It\u2019s a move they\u2019ve played before in Shanghai, Guangzhou, and other cities globally \u2013 and it\u2019s a cool one. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessoffashion.com\/organisations\/aesop\/projects\/aesop-womens-library-voices-unbound\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">They pick a retail space, take products off the shelves and replace them with books<\/a>. The result is a shop turned cultural centre, and a space for readers to explore women\u2019s writing through talks, book giveaways and small-scale literary events. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this iteration, nine women from different professional backgrounds will serve as guest speakers, known as Reading Leaders (flashbacks to primary school anyone?). The lineup includes media professional Xue Jian (\u859b\u5251), film scholar Dai Jinhua (\u6234\u9526\u534e), academic Teng Wei (\u6ed5\u5a01), writer Yao Emei (\u59da\u9102\u6885), scholar Huang Xiaodan (\u9ec4\u6653\u4e39), artist Xiang Jing (\u5411\u4eac), scientist Liu Ying (\u5218\u9896), theatre director Yang Ting (\u6768\u5a77) and landscape designer Tang Ziying (\u5510\u5b50\u9896). They\u2019ll be discussing how women express themselves across fields ranging from academia to art.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>But it wouldn\u2019t be a savvy China marketing move without a little localisation.<\/strong> And so, a new element is being introduced: an offline discussion series titled A Tea Room. Instead of traditional author talks, the Reading Leaders will reflect on the books that shaped their thinking and creative work. The company regularly references philosophy, poetry and essays across its packaging, stores and marketing. They didn\u2019t fail to gain that much-needed online traction either. <a href=\"https:\/\/jingdaily.com\/posts\/china-luxury-brand-women-s-day-marketing-strategies-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">As Jing Daily has it, the Shanghai activation generated more than 2.45 million views on Xiaohongshu<\/a>, turning the literary project into a widely shared cultural moment.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That mix of offline intimacy and social media traction is exactly what makes the idea work in China\u2019s retail landscape. A bookstore pop-up might sound niche, but it offers something brands increasingly struggle to create: a physical space people actually want to linger in.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2
