This time, it launched a rather ambitious project, the <a href=\"https:\/\/luxe.co\/post\/361723\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">first sustainable lifestyle commercial space in China<\/a> at the iconic Middle Huaihai Road in Shanghai. The location, now called the HAI550 because it is at 550 Middle Huaihai Road, was once a theatre in the 1930s and a cinema in the 1950s before becoming the world\u2019s first Barbie flagship store in 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-dao-insights wp-block-embed-dao-insights\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"jhxEenDxEG\"><a href=\"https:\/\/daoinsights.com\/news\/is-youngor-the-next-anta\/\">Is Youngor the next Anta?<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"&#8220;Is Youngor the next Anta?&#8221; &#8212; Dao Insights\" src=\"https:\/\/daoinsights.com\/news\/is-youngor-the-next-anta\/embed\/#?secret=yAlfsEDej1#?secret=jhxEenDxEG\" data-secret=\"jhxEenDxEG\" width=\"520\" height=\"293\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The space spans 8 storeys with over 7,000 sqm. The ground floor does not contain any shops and is reserved for content creation and campaigns such as pop-up shops and exhibitions. From shoes made from recycled plastic bottles to a \u201ctop-up\u201d shop that sells products without packaging. Youngor also operates a space of its own in the building, the Youngor Lab. The HAI550 is Youngor\u2019s exploration of retail spaces, with its design-centric layout, and the space also tries to bring \u201cfun\u201d back to shopping. Interestingly, it only has a handful of food and beverage outlets, which is rare in today\u2019s retail landscape. Even the escalators only go up for energy saving purposes. High streets in Chinese cities face challenges as <a href=\"https:\/\/mp.weixin.qq.com\/s\/7bIgi1QqoC-LUVQJrShmZg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">many stores and restaurants closed on Middle Huaihai Road over the past few years<\/a>, but the new space can be seen as an exploration into experiential retail to bring back the footfall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Youngor (\u96c5\u6208\u5c14), a fashion brand that is known for investing in everything, is back in the real estate game after a brief stint back in fashion.
